Learn to spin on a Top-Whorl drop spindle, You will learn basic fiber terminology, drafting and spinning your own yarn singles.
Equipment required:
Top whorl drop spindle, medium weight.
(Buy at fiber festival or bring your own - several styles will be available for purchase from $7.50 on up.)

These socks are the first I've made with handspun, and were done completely with some of my first drop spindle spun yarn. The pattern is a variation of a pair on p. 35 of Ethnic Socks &Stockings by Priscilla A. Gibson Roberts.
