In this class we will learn the history of an old, uniquely American scrap craft of primitive rug hooking. Unlike the popular latch-hook, rug hooking was done using strips of fabric often times of worn-out family clothing. Using a hook similar to that for crochet, loops of wool are lifted through a backing of burlap, monks cloth or linen. Our project will measure 10" X 10" which can be made into a small mat or pillow. The design is called "Hearts Afire". |
